Dear Church Family,
In consultation with Bishop John Taylor (Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles), and Bishop Andy Taylor (Pacifica Synod) we will resume Sunday worship service. Consistent with CDC recommendations to reduce the potential for community spread of the COVID19 virus, we will follow guidelines for social distancing including seating configuration, wearing masks, and use of hand sanitizer/washing hands.
For those who are not ready, or unable, to return in person, we are also working to continue our live stream of the Sunday service.
Our inperson services will follow these guidelines:
In order to provide more spacious seating, all services will be held at Shepherd of the Desert for now.
Those attending the service will have an assigned seat and all service materials will be on your seat. Please leave your nametag and peace sign on your seat when you leave.
At this time we will be unable to physically exchange the peace, or hold coffee hour following the service.
Music will be limited to 1-2 verses, or removed from the service temporarily. This is to shorten the length of time we are in a confined space.
All attendees will be asked to wear a mask, follow the social distancing floor signs, and use the marked ENTRANCE and EXIT doors.
Communion will be distributed using social distancing, attendees sitting together can receive communion together as well. We will be using disposable communion cups, please drop them in the waste basket as you exit the santuary. Any offerings will be left in the collection plate at the baptismal font.
We will be doing temperature checks at the door in order to help with the track and trace requirement. Anyone who exhibits fever symptoms will be required to go back home.
If you haven't done so yet, find us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/barstowepiscopallutheranchurches.
Our Facebook page is a great source for information about what's happening with our church community, our ministries, and each other. Our page will also include a live Sunday Eucharist Services, as well as other video opportunities.
LAUNDRY LOVE is postponed at this time.

A Message From the Pastor...
The FREE LUNCH ministry will continue but we will use ready to-go boxes. Get in touch with either Angie Gilbert or Eva Stewart for detailed information about this.
I would encourage all of us to take this time to continue reflecting upon the great gift of eternal life that Jesus has secured for us. I invite you to take advantage of online resources such as Forward Day by Day or other sites that you find useful.
Even as we voluntarily withdraw from much public activity in order to minimize exposure to the virus, we are enormously blessed to have amazing technologies available to help us remain connected with our loved ones and communities, and to refresh our spirits.
I will be available. Please don’t hesitate to call me at 267-709-7348 if you have an emergency.
I have every confidence that we will continue to be here for one another as always, just as God is always with us.
Grace and Peace,
